Nannies

Tigerlily nannies are professional qualified and experienced nannies who have the commitment and skills to provide, a safe and loving and stimulating environment for your child.

The role of a nanny:

A nanny is responsible for feeding, washing, clothing, educating and stimulating children. She should provide a safe and loving environment for the child and be expected to plan activities that enhance learning and development. Nannies are not responsible for general housework or chores, although she should clear up after herself and the children.

Nanny hours:

With the change towards flexible working hours, many parents are now looking for part-time nannies. The option is now available to employ a nanny on a part-time basis, as a nanny will often work for more than one family. An average day for a nanny is 8am to 6pm.

A nanny can expect to earn between £45 and £65 net per day, dependent on their level of qualifications and experience.

Other Cost Considerations:

Historically the nanny industry has always discussed wages in net terms, which can cause some confusion.

As the employer, you will be responsible for tax and National Insurance contributions on top of the net amount paid to your nanny. Please see our essential information page for more details.

Nanny Qualifications:

There are many different qualifications and childcare courses. Please ask us we will be happy to provide you with our "qualifications explained" fact sheet.

Benefits of employing a nanny:

The benefits of employing a nanny are numerous. Along with the flexibility and bond your child will build with their nanny, perhaps the most significant benefit is knowing that your child will feel secure in their own environment and that they are being given one to one specialist attention.

Mother's Help

A mother's help supplied by Tigerlily will either hold a childcare qualification or have a minimum of 1 years childcare experience. Mothers help's are employed to help look after the children light household duties, whilst working under the supervision of a parent.

Mother's help duties:

A Mother's help will often be employed by a family with two or more children, with a parent at home or if the children are 2 years plus a parent working from home. A Mother's help is an extra pair of hands that will help the parent with daily activities including light house work, ironing, helping with shopping, trips to the park and general entertaining of children.

Mother's help hours:

A Mother's help would typically work less hours than a nanny. An average day would be from 8.45 to 5pm, this is often worked on a part-time basis.

A mother's help can expect to earn between £4.80 and £5.50 net per hour, dependent on their level of qualifications and experience.

Other cost considerations:

Historically the nanny industry has always discussed wages in net terms, which can cause some confusion.

As the employer, you will be responsible for tax and National Insurance contributions on top of the net amount paid to your Mother's help. Please see our essential information page for more details.

Benefits of employing a Mother's help:

If a parent is as home and needs some extra help, then a Mother's help is a perfect solution that offers flexibility as you can choose the days and hours covered. As many Mother's helps are often training to work either within the childcare or teaching sectors, you will hopefully find someone who has a dedicated interest in helping you to care for your children.

Maternity Nurses/Nannies

Tigerlily childcare only supply experienced and qualified maternity nurses.

Our maternity nurses are dedicated to giving help and advice to a mother during the first few weeks following the birth of a new baby.

Maternity nurses specialise in caring for a newborn baby. They are ideal for first time parents, as they are able to help establish a routine with feeding and sleeping, and generally offering gentle guidance at a very special, but often daunting time.

A maternity nurse will give as little or as much hands on help that you need. Many maternity nurses offer 24 hour live-in help, and will be happy to take over some night-time feeds, giving parents a well deserved rest.

A maternity nanny specialises in caring for newborn babies with older siblings. They are ideal for a parent who needs extra help, or is going back to work and requires sole charge for a small baby and another young child.
